Trikatu
Properties: Made from three pungent (katu) herbs, trikatu
comprises black pepper (kali mirch), ginger (adhrakh) and long pepper
(pippali), which, when consumed together, cut through accumulated mucous and
open up the channels of nutrition. This helps balance the ‘agni’ of the body.
Rx: The
usual prescription is one teaspoon of trikatu mixed with one teaspoon of
organic honey, once a day.
Healing effects
1.It helps digest and expectorate mucous, making it good for
disorders that are caused by excessive mucous, such as asthma, and all problems
connected to the head and neck, such as sinusitis, throat problems, cough and
cold.
2. It balances the metabolism, and is useful for both, poor
digestion and excessive appetite.
3. It helps reduce water retention during menopause.
4. Since it removes toxins, it helps in cases of low sexual
vigour and poor sperm quality.
5. Since it is a detoxifier, it eliminates excessive cholesterol
from the system.
6. It is excellent for diabetes, especially
type 2 diabetes caused by an imbalanced diet, with the addition of triphala. In
this case, mix trikatu and honey in warm water and drink it three times a day.
Also mix triphala chorine with warm water and drink it twice a day, on an empty
stomach in the morning, and at night at bedtime.

*Lactating

ayurvedic doctor.
*If your

under the supervision of an ayurvedic doctor.
*Likewise,
if you have ulcers and complicated digestive disorders, avoid trikatu unless
its consumption is medically supervised.
